Our History

Our vibrant congregation is a branch of the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island and as such we make up part of the much larger community of the National Episcopal and the Worldwide Anglican communion.
We invite you to join us for one or both of our weekly services, Sundays at 8 am and 10am. Our worship is the time we take from our busy lives to nourish and strengthen our faith, our soul, and most importantly our relationship with God and with one another. We want our members and visitors to leave our church every Sunday with a renewed commitment to proclaim the gospel of Christ by showing love, and working towards justice and peace.
We invite you to view our website and discover the ways in which we devote our efforts to showing Gods love, while embracing and developing our community.  With outstretched arms we welcome all who would care to join us regardless of color, creed, nationality or other man made categories, we have room for all.

mission statement

St.Thomas’  Episcopal Church is a Christian Community, Called and gathered, where we communicate God’s love to young and old, well-to-do and struggling, and celebrate diverse backgrounds. We are committed to being a sign to our city of God’s work o justice, peace, and love.

St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church was organized and incorporated as the Cooper Avenue Mission in 1872. It became a Parish in 1882. Tour our Archives Room and you will see 140  years of St. Thomas’ Legacy on Display. Come celebrate with us! We are multicultural, multilingual and multigenerational. We are a Parish family unified in giving thanks and praise to the Lord for his blessings. We celebrate through prayer, bible study, education,  music and food.
