The Sew and Sews Group
The Sew and Sews group meets informally on the first and third Friday of the month to chat over a cup of coffee and discuss happenings in the members lives. While it started as a social gathering, it has become a place for the members to use their shared talents and gifts for the benefit of others. Utilizing the recently upgraded kitchen, the group works together to prepare and freeze meals to be delivered to the church’s home bound members on a regular basis. Another project the group has taken on is sewing and filling toiletry bags for women who are exiting homeless shelters in Hackensack and Jersey City. The bags are filled with personal items and toiletries. In the cold weather hats, mufflers, gloves and socks are added.
